JOB PURPOSE:
The Senior Accounting Specialist oversees comprehensive professional accounting services and manages the accounting unit's activities to enhance departmental effectiveness across the business.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Analyze ledgers and accounts to facilitate timely reconciliation of financial data, ensuring the company maintains continuous awareness of its financial position.
- Oversee the quality of work performed by junior colleagues to ensure compliance with accounting procedures, ensuring adherence to all established systems.
- Review invoices received from suppliers/vendors to ensure they match supporting documents and comply with established procedures. Process invoices and arrange payments accordingly. Perform payable analysis to ensure timely processing of payments when due.
- Oversee the issuance of checks and processing of wire transfer payments.
- Record ledger and booking entries following prescribed procedures to ensure timely and accurate transaction recording.
- Oversee the upkeep of data pertaining to specific accounting functions to ensure the availability and accuracy of information.
- Post entries and accurately allocate expenses to their respective general ledger accounts (GLs) and cost centers.
- Prepare reports from statistical and financial information according to specified schedules to ensure timely availability of all necessary information for review.
- Identify, investigate, and rectify routine errors and anomalies in input data 2 to maintain the accuracy of financial information.
- Carry out functional supervisory responsibilities, including planning and assigning tasks, setting deadlines, monitoring results and quality, providing training, and conveying team requests to the hierarchy.
- Prepare non-routine financial data as requested to facilitate informed management decision-making.
