We are currently seeking a Operations Risk Analyst for one of our very well-known client, to be based in their Abu Dhabi office.
Job Purpose
To strengthen company's operational and fraud risk environment by implementing the Operational Risk Management Framework, conducting risk assessments, investigating frauds, managing incidents, enhancing internal controls and supporting Business Continuity.
Job Description
- Contribute to the Operational and Fraud Risk Management framework by supporting risk identification, conducting risk assessments and fraud investigations, monitoring risks, reviewing internal controls and assisting in reporting and mitigation of operational and fraud risks.
- Support risk identification, assessment and monitoring across business units.
- Analyze operational processes to identify control gaps and recommend improvements.
- Conduct Risk and Control Assessments and assist in managing operational risk events and incidents.
- Support Business Continuity planning and ensure operational resilience.
- Work closely with the Risk Champions (First Line of Defence) across all departments, providing coaching and training on operational risk matters.
- Collaborate with Compliance, Internal Audit, and other stakeholders to ensure regulatory and internal policy adherence.
- Review and investigate suspicious cases reported via internal channels, whistle-blower hotlines, or referrals from departments to ensure timely detection and mitigation of fraud.
- Examine documentation and transactions to identify discrepancies, forgeries and early indicators of fraud.
- Conduct preliminary and detailed fraud investigations, implementing preventive measures and advising on strategies to reduce financial exposure.
- Monitor key data and transactions using advanced tools and dashboards to detect, visualize, and prevent fraudulent activity in an actionable manner.
- Maintain and analyze a fraud case register and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) to monitor trends and emerging threats.
- Prepare and present reports and dashboards for senior management and regulators, providing actionable insights for decision-making.
- Maintain incident register to log all reported incidents, monitoring progress and escalating as required.
- Create and present dashboards summarizing key ops risks and mitigation efforts to internal stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation to support regulatory audits and internal reviews.
- Prepare reports for senior management and regulatory bodies, such as the Central Bank, summarizing trends and incidents.
- Collaborate with the Legal and Compliance team, Quality, Internal Audit, Medical Audit teams police and external agencies to manage fraud and Ops risk incidents effectively.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret large datasets from various internal systems.
- Prepare and deliver routine (daily, weekly, monthly) reports based on business needs.
- Build and maintain automated dashboards and performance tracking tools using Excel, Power BI, or similar platforms.
- Identify trends, anomalies, and process improvement opportunities through data analysis.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Pricing, IT, Underwriting, Claims, Finance) to address reporting requirements.
- Enhance existing MIS systems and ensure data accuracy, integrity, and efficiency.
- Provide ad-hoc analysis and actionable insights to support management decision-making.
Qualifications
- Qualified accountant or good progress towards qualification or
- Professional certification in Risk Management such as IRM Certificate, FRM etc or
- Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) Qualified or Good progress
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience, primarily in Operational Risk Management, preferably within financial services with exposure to audit, investigations or analytical roles.
- Solid quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, attention to detail and strong excel skills.
- Arabic would be an advantage
