The Company

Globe 24-7 in partnership with a key mining client, are working together to source an experienced and qualified Senior Financial Accountant for their team in South Africa.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Financial Planning & Budgeting::

Collaborate with senior management to define long-term financial goals aligned with mining

operations, developing actionable plans supporting expansion, exploration, and sustainability.

Lead the preparation of detailed annual budgets across operational, capital, and maintenance

areas, regularly reviewing variances, and adjusting forecasts based on external and internal

economic factors and commodity trends for informed strategic decision-making.

• Financial Analysis & Business Performance:

Analyse data to assess profitability, efficiency, and cost drivers across mining assets,

conducting variance analysis and preparing profitability reports.

Evaluate operational changes’

financial impact and provide insights to enhance performance and optimise resource

allocation.

• Financial Reporting & Regulatory Compliance:

Oversee preparation of management reports, statutory financial statements, tax filings, and

disclosures to ensure compliance.

Present key financial summaries to the CFO and coordinate audit activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to legal standards.

• Tax, Payroll & Regulatory Management:

Manage tax obligations, including VAT, employee taxes (including Expat Taxes) and corporate

tax, working with advisors to optimise tax strategies and resolve SARS queries.

Work with HR on payroll, ensuring compliance with South African labour laws, statutory deductions, and benefits administration, ensuring the timely payment of pay runs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.

• Valid Driver’s License.

Experience:

• Minimum 8 years’ experience as Senior Financial Accountant / Deputy Finance Manager or

similar role.

• Experience in managing financial reporting, compliance, and taxation within a complex

industrial environment.

• Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle Financials, or similar platforms.

• Experience in the mining industry, including familiarity with mining operations, project

finance, and asset valuation advantageous.

• Detailed knowledge of tax laws and compliance requirements, including VAT, PAYE, and

corporate tax etc.

• Strong understanding of South African Financial regulations, e.g., IFRS
