Introduction:
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Communication Support Worker Level 3 to join our team. You will support individuals with communication difficulties, facilitating their participation in daily activities using communication aids and techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support individuals with speech and language impairments, including deaf, hard of hearing, or other communication disorders.
- Use communication methods and assistive technologies to improve communication.
- Collaborate with professionals to develop communication strategies.
- Assist clients in various environments to meet their communication needs.
- Advocate for clients' communication rights and promote inclusive practices.
- Train clients, families, and caregivers in communication techniques.
- Keep accurate records of support activities and progress.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Diploma or degree in relevant fields such as Communication Disorders, Deaf Studies, or Special Education.
- Experience supporting individuals with communication needs, preferably Level 2 or equivalent.
- Proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL) and other communication modes like Makaton or AAC.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills adaptable to client needs.
- Knowledge of assistive technologies.
- Ability to work independently and in teams.
- Compassionate, patient, and respectful demeanor.
- Understanding of confidentiality and ethics.
