Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer required at a well-established original equipment manufacturing company. Our client requires a seasoned mechanical engineer with a passion for ensuring product excellence, standards compliance, and driving innovation through R&D. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring adherence to design mandates, standards & compliance, and successful implementation of projects within the Research & Development (R&D) department. This role requires a strong background in mechanical engineering, attention to detail, extensive knowledge of industry standards, and the ability to manage projects effectively.

1. BEng Mechanical Engineer / BSc Mechanical Engineering / BTech Mechanical or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
2. 15+ years of experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on design verification, standards implementation, R&D, and project management.
3. In-depth knowledge of industry standards and regulations relevant to mechanical systems and products.
4. Proficiency in engineering software and tools for simulation, modeling, and analysis.
5. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective cross-team collaboration.
7. Proven track record of successfully managing projects from concept to completion.
8. Problem-solving mindset with the ability to think creatively and strategically.
9. Passionate about product excellence, standards compliance, and driving innovation through R&D.
10. Solid Works or similar 3D design skills.
11. Product Database Management 'PMD' knowledge will be required (Ideally have Siemens Teamcenter skills).
12. S-Math and / or MATLAB knowledge.
13. FEA software, ANSYS for structural evaluation.

1. Interface with customers to help establish and prioritize the utilization of design resources.
2. Direct and guide design engineers on technical-related issues.
3. Manage project / task timelines to ensure that agreed milestones are reached and to communicate and plan for non-compliance in a timely manner.
4. Organize and lead internal design reviews to ensure that designs reviewed with the customer are properly checked for soundness and compliance.
5. Lead design reviews with the customer and suppliers.
