A vacancy has arisen for a Ward Clerk position reporting to the Manager. The successful candidate will contribute towards the optimal functioning of the nursing team through effective interdepartmental liaising, communication and administrative support to the nursing team.

Position

Ward Clerk | Renal Ward, Life Vincent Pallotti Hospital, Finance/Administration Facility

Responsibilities
  • Ensure optimal service levels while striving to achieve targets.
  • Ensure the speedy and effective execution of non‑nursing activities.
  • Attend meetings and in‑service training as scheduled.
  • Ensure a safe environment in all areas of the unit by staying up to date with safety standards and protocols.
  • Have knowledge of emergency plans and actions.
  • Eliminate medico‑legal risks through correct identification and filing of patient documentation.
  • Maintain a positive appearance and behavior, within and outside hospital relations.
  • Provide friendly and helpful client service.
  • Live up to the Quality principles.
  • Maintain professional secrecy and discretion during contact with customers and colleagues.
  • Ensure effective communication between customers and colleagues.
Qualifications
  • Matric/Grade 12 is essential
  • Computer literacy (MS Office, Impilo, Imeds)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience in dealing with customers
  • Knowledge of hospital procedures and medical terminology
  • Ability to work within a team as well as independently
  • Must be able to flex between day and night shift as well as between the various hospital admissions areas
