SUMMARY : POSITION INFO :

We are urgently seeking a qualified and experienced Underground Coal Mining Engineer to join our team in Middelburg. The successful candidate will play a critical role in overseeing underground coal mining operations, with a strong focus on safety, production efficiency, and equipment utilization. This role requires hands‑on experience with continuous miners, shuttle cars, and roof bolters, as well as a solid understanding of underground mining regulations and engineering principles. This position needs to be filled ASAP.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, design, and oversee Underground Coal Mining operations
  • Optimize the use, maintenance and repair of continuous miners, shuttle cars, and roof bolters
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations
  • Monitor production targets and implement corrective actions where needed
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including geology, safety, and maintenance
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and reporting
  • Support operational decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives
Minimum Requirements
  • GCC 2.13.1 accreditation (mandatory)
  • Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Mining Engineering / or related field
  • Minimum 3–5 years of Underground Coal Mining experience as Engineer
  • Proven experience with continuous miners, shuttle cars, and roof bolters
  • Strong understanding of Underground Coal Mining methods and safety protocols
  • Proficiency in mining software and ERP systems
  • Excellent problem‑solving, leadership, and communication skills
