Job description

Applications are invited for the Technical Project Coordinator position to be based in Stellenbosch. This person will report to the Head of VAS at Herotel Business.

Purpose Of The Role

The Technical Project Coordinator will support our Network Solutions team in delivering complex fibre and wireless projects to enterprise and hospitality clients. This role bridges technical execution and project delivery, ensuring engineers are efficiently scheduled, resources are aligned, and clients are informed and supported throughout each project lifecycle.

Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:
  • Coordinate and manage project timelines, ensuring milestones and deliverables are met.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between clients, technical engineers, and internal departments.
  • Organise and schedule site visits, installations, and follow‑ups based on technical team availability.
  • Track and manage project documentation, including network diagrams, handovers, and project plans.
  • Ensure that all equipment, stock, and support resources are allocated and delivered to site timeously.
  • Communicate with clients on scheduling, progress updates, and post‑installation support processes.
  • Work closely with sales, operations, and technical teams to maintain project alignment.
  • Monitor project performance and assist in compiling reports and client feedback summaries.
  • Support the onboarding of new clients and ensure a smooth project transition to SLA phase.
  • Identify risks or blockers early and escalate appropriately to ensure timelines are preserved.
Key Outputs
  • Projects coordinated and completed within the planned timelines, with minimal delays or rescheduling.
  • Accurate and timely client updates provided throughout each project, resulting in high satisfaction scores.
  • Technical teams effectively scheduled with minimal conflicts or downtime across multiple sites.
  • All project documentation (e.g., diagrams, handovers, reports) completed, organised, and stored in line with internal standards.
  • Project risks or blockers identified and escalated early, contributing to smooth project execution.
  • Strong coordination and communication maintained between sales, technical, and operations teams.
  • All required hardware and support materials delivered and prepared for projects without delay or shortages.
  • Weekly or milestone‑based project status updates compiled and shared with internal stakeholders.
  • New clients transitioned smoothly into project and SLA phases, with minimal friction during handover.
Work Experience And Competencies

The successful candidate must have the following experience/skills:

  • Minimum 2-3 years of project coordination or service delivery experience, preferably in telecoms or IT infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with wireless, fibre, and network solution environments (Mikrotik, Unifi, Huawei, Cambium) is a strong advantage.
  • Excellent communication, planning, and multitasking skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, project tools (e.g., Trello, Asana, Monday.com), and documentation practices.
  • Strong client‑facing etiquette and problem‑solving mindset.
  • Highly organized and deadline focused.
  • Able to translate technical plans into project actions.
  • Clear communicator across technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and calm under pressure.
  • Customer‑oriented and delivery‑driven.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Telecommunications, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Project Management certifications (such as CAPM, PMP, or Prince2 Foundation) are advantageous.
  • Technical certifications (e.g., Mikrotik, Unifi, Huawei, or Cambium) are a strong advantage but not mandatory.
