Job summary

A mining company in South Africa is looking for a qualified surveyor to conduct surface surveys and ensure compliance with legal and company requirements. The ideal candidate will have a Grade 12 certificate and relevant surveying qualifications as well as a minimum of 3 years experience in a mining environment. Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Surveys and calculates volumes of all surface excavations.
• Constructs and maintains all surface plans.
• Surveys new surface infrastructure.
• Takes measurements of stockpiles and waste rock dumps.
• Provides information for the update of surface Survey Plans.
• Supports exploration drilling with surveys of boreholes.
• Surveys all rehabilitation work.
• Generates information for servitude and lease applications.

Skills

Knowledge of CAD/SURPAC/MODELMAKER

Job description

To conduct the surface survey to ensure correct representation of all infrastructure on survey plans as per legal and company requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Grade 12 (with Mathematics and Physical Science) or NQF 4 equivalent

• COM Advanced Survey & Valuation Certificate/National Diploma Mine Surveying/B-Tech Minerals Surveying is essential

Minimum 3 years working experience in a mining environment is essential.

Underground surveying experience is desirable.

• Valid medical certificate or be medically fit in order to obtain such a certificate

COMPETENCIES

• Knowledge of the in CAD/SURPAC/ MODELMAKER and GPS systems
• Must have knowledge on Basic Health & Safety
• Knowledge of the relevant legislation
• Knowledge of underground mining
• Understanding of different local stakeholders
• Basic Fire Fighting
• Basic First Aid

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Surveys and calculates volumes of all surface excavations.
• Constructs and maintains all surface plans.
• Surveys all the new surface infrastructure (Buildings, pipes, powerlines, roads, optic fibre lines etc.).
• Takes measurements of stockpiles, waste rock dumps and tailings storage facilities.
• Provides information for the update of surface Survey Plans in order to comply with legal requirements.
• Supports the exploration drilling function by conducting temporary and final surveys of boreholes
• Surveys all rehabilitation work
• Generates relevant information pertaining to servitude and lease applications.
