A startup in agricultural trading is looking for a co-founder to help build a new company from the ground up. This is a unique opportunity for a matric or undergraduate student residing in Stellenbosch, with a strong interest in AI and software development. The role will be flexible with respect to academic commitments and offers ownership shares in the startup. Regular domestic travel will be covered as part of building the venture.
Reidar is looking for a co-founder to assist in transforming the world of trading and transporting agricultural commodities as we know it!
This industry involves transactions between natural resource producers, processors and final buyers who buy products from each other along the value chain. In between the farms/plants, logistics also need to be co-ordinated. Typically, these are quantified in truck loads of about 30 tons of loose or bagged products like maize, corn and much more.
Firstly, a co-founder role can not be explained using a list of responsibilities - it\'s a fluid role of ownership and contribution, conforming to whatever the startup\'s needs are at that moment in time. Generally, this role will focus on technical and product elements of the startup.
Reidar is proudly founded by a current matriculant founder, moving on to study engineering at Stellenbosch University next year. Co-founder partnerships work better when all parties live in the same context. Thus a matric or early undergraduate persona is a perfect fit for this role. This also means this is not strictly a full time role - time is set out for your studies. However, when possible, we will be working on Reidar. Late nights? Yes. Vacations? Yes. Even when we\'re a bit tired? Yes.
But will it be fun and impactful, working as 2 students to build an amazing company from scratch?
Also, yes.
Co-founder roles will receive no monetary compensation for the first few months. This is not a normal job - it\'s building a company from scratch. A significant amount of shares will be given to the co-founder (with a cliff and vesting schedule). While a strong focus on building the company will be maintained, making room for fun outings and activities will ultimately strengthen the team and are thus viewed as a necessity - so you can definitely look forward to that. Otherwise, our users are found in remotes and widespread parts of South Africa - regular domestic traveling costs are covered by the company as we will embark on a lot of trips across the country.
If you are selected as a short-listed candidate, an in-person meet-up is seen as the next round of the selection process.
