Job Title : Civil Structural TechnicianDepartment : Engineering / Construction Reports To : Civil Engineer / Project Manager Patterson Grade : C3 – C5 (depending on experience and scope) Estimated Monthly Salary (South Africa) : R22, – R38,Job Purpose : To assist civil and structural engineers in the design, drafting, inspection, and supervision of construction projects.

The technician provides technical support throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that plans and specifications are implemented correctly and efficiently on-site.Key Responsibilities :

  • Prepare detailed technical drawings and plans using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
  • Assist in the design and layout of structural elements such as beams, columns, foundations, and slabs.
  • Conduct site inspections and assist with structural assessments and surveys.
  • Liaise with engineers, architects, and contractors to ensure accurate interpretation of designs.
  • Review and check construction drawings for compliance with building codes and standards.
  • Assist in preparing reports, material quantities, and project documentation.
  • Monitor construction progress and assist in quality control and safety compliance.
  • Maintain and update technical records and design files.Qualifications and Experience :
  • National Diploma in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 2–5 years' experience in a structural or civil engineering environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD and other design software.
  • Knowledge of building codes, SANS standards, and engineering best practices.
