A leading financial inclusion company in South Africa is seeking a Stock Controller to enhance our retail operations across Gauteng. In this role, you will manage inventory and support customer care, ensuring that every interaction contributes to financial inclusion. Ideal candidates will have experience in retail operations, a comfort with technology, and strong organizational skills. We offer a chance to be part of a team that makes a real impact in the community.
M-KOPA South Africa ( Johannesburg & Pretoria)
You're Good at What You Do. But Does Your Work Actually Change Lives?
You've mastered the rhythm of retail operations. Stock comes in, stock goes out. Customers arrive with problems, you solve them. You're reliable, competent, and probably the person your team turns to when things get complicated.
But here's a question worth sitting with: when you hand a customer their device, does it matter beyond the transaction? Does that moment connect to something bigger than a sale target?
At M-KOPA, every device you distribute is someone's first step toward financial inclusion. Every phone swap you complete keeps a small business owner connected to their customers. Every troubleshooting session you navigate might be helping a mother access mobile money for the first time, or a young entrepreneur run their side hustle.
This isn't retail as usual. This is retail as economic infrastructure.
M-KOPA now serves 7 million customers across Africa, up from 5 million just last year. We've unlocked over $2 billion in credit for people the traditional financial system overlooked. And here's what matters most: 86% of our customers report improved quality of life, with 70% using our products to generate income.
We've assembled over 2 million smartphones in Kenya. We've financed more than 4,000 e-motorbikes that save riders $5.62 daily. We're not a startup trying to find product‑market fit. We're a certified B Corporation financial access across a continent.
And we need people at the front lines who understand that stock control and customer care aren't back‑office functions. They're the moments where our mission becomes real.
You may have noticed M-KOPA hiring across multiple positions. This isn't random. We're deliberately building the retail infrastructure to take us from 7 million to 10 million customers. Our South African operations across Western Cape, Gauteng, and Mpumalanga are expanding, and we need Stock Controllers who see beyond inventory counts to the human impact of every device movement.
This is joining during the critical scaling phase, not after the systems are already built.
In a typical retail environment, you manage stock and handle complaints. The metrics are inventory accuracy and customer wait times. The work is important but disconnected from broader outcomes.
Here, you're part of a system that transforms economic access. When you complete a phone swap efficiently, you're not just processing a return. You're ensuring a customer doesn't lose days of income while waiting for a working device. When you troubleshoot effectively, you're not just closing a ticket. You're keeping someone connected to the financial tools that changed their life.
The difference isn't in the tasks. It's in what the tasks enable.
This role requires presence and consistency. You'll be based in a depot, managing physical inventory and face‑to‑face customer interactions. The pace is steady, the problems are varied, and the impact is tangible.
If you're looking for remote work or purely strategic positioning, this isn't it. But if you want your operational expertise to connect to something meaningful, this is exactly it.
If you're reading this thinking that your current role is fine but somehow missing the point, that's probably the signal worth exploring. M-KOPA is building financial infrastructure across Africa, and we need people at every level who understand that the details enable the mission.
At M-KOPA, we empower our people to own their careers through diverse development programs, coaching partnerships, and on‑the‑job training. We support individual journeys with family‑friendly policies, prioritize well‑being, and embrace flexibility.
