Overview

We are looking for an experienced Site Buyer with a minimum of 12 years’ proven experience in procurement for the civil engineering and roads & earthworks construction industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all procurement functions at site level, ensuring cost-effective, timely, and compliant acquisition of goods and services for tendering, contracts, and live projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the end-to-end procurement cycle for site, tender, and contract requirements.
  • Source, negotiate, and procure materials, plant, and subcontract services specific to civils and roads & earthworks.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure reliability and competitiveness.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and pricing to optimise cost savings and ensure quality standards.
  • Prepare and manage purchase orders, requisitions, and supplier contracts.
  • Monitor site stock levels and ensure timely delivery of critical materials.
  • Ensure procurement processes align with company policies, compliance requirements, and project schedules.
  • Liaise closely with site management, quantity surveyors, and project managers to ensure accurate and cost-effective procurement planning.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and reports for audit and project controls.
Experience
  • Minimum of 12 years’ experience in buying/procurement within the construction industry, specifically in civils and roads & earthworks.
  • Proven track record of tender, contract, and/or site procurement responsibilities.
  • Experience managing procurement for medium-to-large construction projects.
Education & Qualifications
  • Diploma or BCom in Buying, Procurement, or Supply Chain Management.
Skills

  • Proficiency in procurement systems and MS Office (Excel essential).
