Job description

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Short Term Insurance Underwriter with a strong background in Heavy Commercial Vehicle underwriting. Based in Durban .

The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing and underwriting insurance applications for both commercial and domestic clients ensuring adherence to company policies and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and underwrite insurance applications for commercial and domestic clients.
• Assess risks associated with Heavy Commercial Vehicles.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and brokers.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies.
• Provide expert advice and support to clients on insurance products and services.
• Independently manage underwriting processes with minimal supervision.
• Prepare and present underwriting reports and documentation.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Commercial and Domestic Underwriting with a proven track record.
• Extensive experience in Heavy Commercial Vehicle underwriting.
• Minimum qualification of NQF level 4 in Short Term Insurance.
• Experience in personal and commercial underwriting.
• Completed Regulatory Examination (RE).
• Demonstrated ability to work independently without supervision.
• Must have own transport.
• Proven reliability and trustworthiness.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficient in relevant computer software and underwriting tools.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
