Job Description

The Senior Shift Supervisor has the Legal accountability with a 2.15.1 appointment in terms of the Minerals Act and Regulations and is responsible to ensure compliance to Legal requirements and Management specifics, and the completion of records pertaining to his/her area of responsibility, as stipulated by the regulations.

Key responsibilities of this role are:

• Application of legal, operational and standard compliance with regards to work, machinery and equipment inspections and the recording thereof as stipulated in section 2.15.1 of the Minerals Act.
• Monitoring of environmental conditions for compliance to legal and management specifics.
• Monitoring performances for compliance to legal and management specifics.
• Investigating incidents/accidents and property damage.
• Completing all the required checklists, reports and written assessments.
• Effective management of performance management systems
• Verifying stock levels and delivering of materials and equipment
• Planning production for the area of responsibility
• Maintaining feedback to team and management concerning production progress.
• Monitoring performance of all activities and advice where applicable to enhance productive achievement.

This role is at D1 level reporting to the Mine Overseer.

Qualifications

• Grade 10
• Grade 12/Matric - advantageous
• National Certificate NQF Level 3 Rock Breaker or Valid Blasting Certificate for underground (Hard Rock)
• Shift Supervisor Certificate
• Mine Overseer certificate - advantageous

Experience:

• At least 3 years’ experience as a Mechanised Shift Supervisor (Shift Boss) - advantageous

Additional requirements:

• Computer literacy
• First Aid Certificate
• Valid certificate of fitness for underground work
