Job summary

A leading construction firm based in Paarl is looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to manage project costs from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in residential, commercial, and industrial projects. Key responsibilities include preparing cost estimates and budgets, liaising with various stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills are essential for this role.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with senior-level experience preferred.
  • Proven experience on residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts and cost management principles.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Job title: Senior Quantity Surveyor

Key Responsibilities
  • Full cost management of projects from inception to final account
  • Preparation of detailed cost estimates, budgets, and feasibility studies
  • Compilation, issuing, and evaluation of tenders and contracts
  • Measurement, pricing, and preparation of Bills of Quantities (BOQs)
  • Ongoing cost control, forecasting, and cash flow management
  • Valuation of work done and preparation of progress payment certificates
  • Management of variations, claims, and final accounts
  • Liaison with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and industry standards
  • Provide accurate financial reporting to management
  • Assist with procurement strategies and subcontractor appointments
  • Identify and mitigate commercial and contractual risks
Minimum Requirements
  • Recognised qualification in Quantity Surveying (BSc / BTech or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor (senior-level experience preferred)
  • Proven experience on residential, commercial and industrial projects
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts and cost management principles
  • Proficiency in QS software, Microsoft Excel, and MS Office
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Available to start immediately (ASAP)
  • Valid driver’s license
