Job description

Our Engineering Recruitment desk currently has a vacancy for a qualified Health & Safety Manager. Our client is a multifaceted mining and commodity trading enterprise, primarily engaged in mining, processing ores, and distributing the resultant product to a vast international consumer base.

The successful candidate will be based fulltime on their Mining Operation close to Rustenburg.

The Senior Health & Safety Manager is responsible for leading, implementing, and continuously improving the mines Health & Safety (H&S) management systems. The role ensures safe production, statutory compliance, effective risk management, and ongoing safety culture transformation across the site.

Requirements

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Risk Management, Engineering, or similar.
• Mine Health and Safety Act Qualification (e.g., COMSOC 1 & 2 or SAMTRAC)
• ISO 45001 Lead Auditor certification advantageous.
• Minimum 810 years H&S experience in mining.
• At least 5 years in a senior / managerial HSE role within a mining environment (surface mining essential; chrome / PGM experience advantageous).
• Strong experience dealing with DMR inspections, Section 54 / 55 notices, and regulatory compliance.
• Proven track record implementing ISO 45001 / OHSAS 18001 systems.
• Experience interacting with unions, communities, contractors, and multiple stakeholders.
