Job description

Purpose of the Position: Management of day to day accounting functions and supervise a team of staff. Key Performance Areas.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee accounting and financial reporting activities.
  • Manage and mentor finance staff.
  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Compile annual audit packs and income tax schedules; liaise with auditors to finalize year-end audits.
  • Draft Annual Financial Statements on CaseWare.
  • Prepare and present monthly financial reports to the Board of Directors / Trustees.
  • Develop and maintain annual budgets, 10-year maintenance plans, and 5-year replacement plans.
  • Manage the General Ledger, including accruals, provisions, intergroup loan reconciliations, and debtors / creditors management.
  • Cash flow planning.
  • Provide business and financial support to departmental managers, Property Regional Managers, and General Managers.
  • Assist in drafting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and documenting accounting process flows.
  • Prepare and submit statutory reports.
  • Maintain fixed asset registers and stock schedules.
  • Ensure accurate reconciliation between subsystems and the accounting system.
  • Perform ad hoc finance tasks as required.
Qualifications
  • BCom Accounting or equivalent qualification
  • SAICA-accredited articles completed
  • Minimum 3 years post-articles experience in Finance
  • Proficient in Advanced Excel
