Job title: Senior Finance Manager Tax and Treasury - EM South

Job Location: Western Cape, Cape Town

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization

To manage the tax and treasury functions ensuring effective tax risk management, cash flow management, accurate and timely reporting, that is within the local laws of the country and the internal control framework of the adidas group.

In addition, add value to wider Finance team and the business through active project involvement and support.

Key responsibilities
Taxation
  • Manage transition to new external tax advisor for Income Tax duties
  • Support the preparation of Current and Deferred tax calculations prepared before processing in SAP
  • Support the preparation of Annual Tax Forms and Additional Information
  • Working with EMEA tax director in transition to automated / stream‑lined tax function
  • Revise and sign‑off quarterly Income Tax Risk Questionnaire to Group Taxes
  • Support external tax advisors in preparation of Income Tax Return
  • Review completed Income Tax Return and associated schedules
  • Assist in preparation of and review of first and second provisional tax payments, SARS Paragraph 3 requests
  • Assist in preparation of annual Transfer Pricing Study
  • Project manage reviews and SARS audits and keep Senior Finance Director and relevant stakeholders up to date on progress (Tax Tracker)
  • Monthly review and sign‑off of VAT returns and reconciliations in alignment with external advisors
  • Ensure all tax payments are made timeously before SARS due dates
  • Support Sports Marketing VAT compliance
  • Responsibility for taxes related to the company (VAT, Income Tax, Transfer Pricing, Customs Duty, Payroll taxes) as per tax target operating model and RACI
  • Ensure Tax Risk Management Policy is updated annually.
  • Proactively aligning on tax risks by liaising with tax advisors and performing internal reviews
  • Assist with new business tax related queries and issues, including recharges and transfer pricing implications in alignment with regional head
  • Ensure bank charges process is adhered to for VAT claims
  • Prepare Wear & Tear schedule and ensure CAPEX allocated correctly for tax purposes.
  • Support HR and Payroll with VAT and SARS‑related issues.
Treasury
  • Managing the local banking relationships of adidas
  • Internally: Group Treasury
  • Externally: Local Banks, SARB, other service providers and key partners
  • Ensure funding and guarantees are in place to meet operational and investment requirements
  • Review Bank Account Management (BAM) system
  • Manage month‑end working capital requirement (ensure sufficient incoming funds processed before outgoing funds are released).
  • First / Second payment approver for mid‑month and month end vendor payments
  • Review monthly Cash flow reporting – Actuals versus Forecast
  • Review / Manage RFC Cash Flow forecast to EM Hub team.
  • Review / Manage twelve month rolling Cash Flow Forecast submission to adidas Group Treasury
  • Review / manage monthly Exposure Forecast for local / inter‑company purchases
  • Ensure business complies with Group Treasury policy
  • Identify areas for improvement to ensure increased accuracy in cash flow forecasting process
  • Present Treasury updates to relevant stakeholders
  • Ad‑hoc reporting requirements – local and Global
  • Manage EUR intercompany transactions related tasks – hedge roll process, reporting, monthly FX revaluation, repayment schedule, annual LEI renewal, SARB assurance.
  • Ensure relevant SARB approvals are obtained / renewed annually.
  • Work with local banks to improve and streamline processes, introduce new technology, automation etc.
  • Ensure necessary controls are in place with local banks / service providers to manage and safeguard cash (Retail)
Projects
  • Working with external advisors and central team to ensure legal entity transfer pricing requirements are met
  • Preparation of Year end Related Party note, Contingencies note
  • Work with Local Finance Manager and Senior Credit Manager to identify areas for improvement and ensure that internal control improvements are effectively implemented
  • Support the NTP process
Ad‑hoc financial reviews and presentations

Assisting in the finance team in implementing global projects as the need arises.

Preparation and calculation of bonus provisions as required.
