Job summary

A leading consulting firm in Cape Town seeks an experienced Bookkeeper to manage full bookkeeping functions, ensure compliance, and support audit processes. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of bookkeeping experience, strong knowledge of accounting principles, and proficiency in accounting software like Xero and Sage. This position requires strong organisational and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years bookkeeping experience, with at least 2 years in a senior role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and legislation.
  • Proficient in accounting software and MS Excel.

Job Description

  • Full bookkeeping function up to trial balance.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Process bank reconciliations, cashbooks, and journals.
  • Preparation and submission of VAT, PAYE, and other statutory returns.
  • Assist with monthly management accounts.
  • Support annual audit process with external auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and accounting standards.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders (auditors, SARS, suppliers, clients).
Qualifications
  • A relevant Finance/Accounting qualification (Diploma or Degree advantageous).
  • Minimum 5 years bookkeeping experience, with at least 2 years in a senior role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and legislation.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, Pastel, Sage, QuickBooks) and MS Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
