Job Purpose
- The Aviation Technician will perform maintenance inclusive of servicing, self-inspecting, repairs, overhaul, testing, basic trouble shooting and modifications to aircraft engines, airframes and components in accordance with task cards, check sheets and work instructions, complying with SAAT. Manufacturers and regulatory authority requirements to SAA and customer aircraft.
Principal Accountabilities
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks which require self-inspection, servicing, rectify anomalies found, overhaul, testing and basic trouble shooting in accordance with relevant documents as required by Regulatory Authorities.
- Perform all relevant documentation pertaining to each task is signed and stamped for i.e., Company Policy and Regulatory Requirements.
- Operate support equipment and ensure correct and serviceable tooling is obtained and utilized to achieve maintenance task request as stipulated by aircraft manuals.
- Prepare the work area and aircraft/ engine as per Manufacturer’s instructions to ensure safe working environment for all staff, aircraft, engines and equipment.
- Perform all reasonable requests by the Team Leader and comply with the Work Instruction.
- Communicate with Senior License Technician and Team Leader with regard to any technical problems to ensure that productivity and safety standards are maintained as per laid down.
- Assist Senior License Technician / Team Leader with retrieving of aircraft manual information and requesting spares.
- Return all tooling and equipment to stores and clean the work area on completion of shift.
Qualifications & Experience
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Passed an Aviation Apprenticeship and Trade Test in the Aircraft Mechanic Trade
- Must have 2 years line maintenance experience
- Advantageous to hold certification in any of the following aircraft types (B737-300/400/500; B737-NG; A319/320; A330; A340; B744; B777) - provide copy of Admin28
- Must be PC Literate (i.e., AMOS MS Office)
- Valid Driver’s license Code B
Knowledge and Skills
- Have interpersonal skills
- Good communication skills (verbal and written)
- S.H.E courses (NOSA, Firefighting, first aid, etc.)
- Basic training and operation of equipment and tooling
- Procedural, Regulatory Authority and documentation courses
