Key responsibilities & duties :
- Ensure that sales targets are met for both internal and external sales channels.
- Open new accounts and follow up on loyalty accounts.
- Keep customer details updated in the system, especially if there are changes.
- Assist the debtor’s lady with account inquiries.
- Process invoices accurately and timely.
- Set promotional specials and monitor slow-moving stock daily.
- Assist sales staff with delivery issues.
- Follow up on customer deliveries.
- Handle incoming calls and convert inquiries into sales opportunities.
- Follow up on sales leads.
- Ensure prompt service for walk-in and cash customers by all sales staff.
- Manage customer complaints professionally.
- Update and correct cost and selling prices in the computer system.
- Regularly update the Discount Matrix.
- Compare prices with competitors regularly and report findings to management.
- Evaluate the buying experience of account customers and suggest improvements.
- Maintain and update the customer database for marketing purposes.
- Ensure all external sales staff visit all customers monthly.
- Ensure all internal sales staff contact all customers monthly.
- Process manual invoices daily on Syspro.
- Sign off and authorize credit notes daily.
- Authorize EFT payments before stock release.
- Receive payments for all COD deliveries and update the register.
- Process credit notes on Syspro before issuing cash refunds.
Minimum requirements :
- Retail sales experience and experience in the Steel & Tube Industry.
- 3-4 years of sales experience, preferably in a sales role.
- Syspro experience is an advantage.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to manage a team of internal and external salespeople.
- Strong management and trading skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Sales-driven and capable of leading teams to achieve results.
