Our client is an electronic communications manufacturer and supplier based in Edenvale and they are looking for a Sales Account Manager to join their team as soon as possible.

JOB DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:

Account Managers play an important role within a business, you are required to retain existing clients, obtain new clients and are responsible for the companys key customers. As an Account Manager your main responsibility is to manage expectations and oversee that a clients needs are met in a timely fashion whilst achieving assigned sales goals.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key Performance Areas

  • Grow sales revenue from product sales.
  • Grow revenue from recurring income streams.
  • Regular and planned customer visits.
  • Engage with customers and become their trusted advisor.
  • Management of designated territory (Central).
  • Knowledge of all Company products.
  • Accurate and on time reporting.
  • Coordinate with all departments within the company.

Responsibilities

Growing sales revenue from product sales

  • Categories: GPRS, VHF, SMX, Parts, High end security products
  • Meet growth targets for hardware sales in each category.
  • Meet new/displacement customer onboarding targets for each category.

Grow revenue from recurring income streams

  • Categories: GPRS network connections, VHF networks – exception and non-exception reporting, Give it back, High end security monitoring
  • Meet growth targets for recurring income connections in each category.

Regular and planned customer visits

  • Regular customer visits within the designated area of responsibility including:
    • Existing customers
    • New customers
    • Non-company customers drive displacement business
  • This may include travelling out of office, nationally or internationally.
  • Effectively communicate with customers and keep to any arrangements made.
  • Follow the process of following up after visits.
  • You are always required to present yourself and the company professionally i.e. Appearance, Documentation, solutions etc.

Engage with customers and become their trusted advisor

  • Ensure you efficiently and effectively plan, quote, process orders and provide feedback to customers on any sales related requirements.
  • You are to be the point of contact for the customer whether its sales, accounts, technical or repairs related.
  • Ensure you provide a quality service per the companies promise to provide Outstanding Customer Service
  • At all times promote a positive and professional perception when dealing with customers or partners.

Management of designated territory (Central)

  • Achieve growth goals per quarter for your area.
  • Forecasting sales, developing area specific sales strategies/models and evaluating their effectiveness.
  • Evaluating customers skills, needs and building productive long-lasting relationships.
  • Qualifying prospects.
  • Pipeline management.
  • Sales process management.
  • Maintain and expand client database.

Knowledge of all Company products

  • Have an in-depth knowledge of Companys full product range.
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of Companys networks.
  • Attend training seminars to refresh knowledge on current Company products as well as for new product releases.

Accurate and on time reporting

  • Giving accurate and relevant feedback on time where applicable.
  • Attend daily, weekly, or monthly meeting as set out by the Technical Sales Manager.
  • Must be able to report on current territory progress and trends when requested.

Coordinate with all departments within the company

  • Cooperate fully with all departments and personnel to satisfy the customer requirements in conjunction with production, accounts, stores and technical.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Matric
  • Relevant tertiary qualification will be beneficial

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Minimum 3–5 years experience in an Account Management, Business Development, or Sales role, preferably within a technology, telecommunications, security, or related technical environment.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets, including hardware sales and recurring revenue models.
  • Experience managing key accounts and designated territories, with responsibility for customer retention, growth, and displacement business.
  • Demonstrated experience in customer-facing roles, including regular client visits, presentations, and solution-based selling.
  • Experience coordinating with internal departments such as technical, production, finance, stores, and support teams to deliver customer solutions.
  • Strong experience in pipeline management, forecasting, and CRM reporting.
  • Experience in quoting, order processing, and post-sales follow-up.
  • Valid drivers license and own reliable transport (if applicable).
  • Strong consultative sales and relationship management skills.
  • Proven ability to grow product sales and recurring revenue streams.
  • Excellent customer service orientation with the ability to act as a trusted advisor.
  • Ability to understand and communicate technical products and solutions effectively.
  • Strong planning, time management, and territory management skills.
  • Competent in pipeline management, forecasting, and sales reporting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of professionalism, accountability, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with internal teams.
