They deliver innovative and sustainable solutions to the mining industry and are seeking an experienced open-pit design Engineer ( Rock Engineer) to join their dynamic team in Rivonia, Gauteng.

Job Description

The Open Pit Design Engineer ( Rock Engineer ) will be responsible for the planning and design of open pit mines, utilizing specialized software to optimize mine layouts, ensure safety, and maximize profitability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and optimize open pit mine designs using specialized software.
  • Conduct geotechnical analysis to assess ground conditions and stability.
  • Collaborate with geological, environmental, and operational teams to ensure integrated and efficient mine designs.
  • Prepare detailed design plans, cross-sections, and 3D models for open pit operations.
  • Evaluate and implement best practices in pit design to enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
  • Support the preparation of technical reports, feasibility studies, and cost estimates.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant mining regulations and safety standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to clients on open pit design and operational challenges.
  • Participate in site visits to assess conditions and gather data for design purposes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in open pit mine design and operations.
  • Proficiency in mine design software (e.g., Surpac, Datamine, Vulcan, or similar).
  • Registered with SANIRE.
