Job summary

A leading research organization based in either Newcastle or London is seeking a highly organized individual to support the delivery of high‑impact research projects. This new role supports Creative PECs Research Network Manager in planning and delivering high‑profile research outputs. You will contribute to design, development, management and timely completion of complex multi‑partner, high‑impact projects. Responsibilities include contract and content management, maintaining internal databases and collaborating with partners and stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities
  • Report to Creative PECs Research Network Manager, supporting delivery of the research programme including content contracting, project plans, Gantt charts and risk registers.
  • Track and review research project progress, reporting on milestones and proposing solutions to keep projects on track.
  • Contribute to concept development and design of future research projects, suggesting questions, data sources and methodologies, and preparing templates, survey instruments and evaluation mechanisms.
  • Provide comments on review copies of research reports and sign off content as required.
  • Ensure compliance with Newcastle University ethics and procurement processes, noting and communicating any issues.
  • Maintain internal databases for accurate reporting to creative PEC governance structures.
  • Collaborate with team members, partners and external stakeholders to prepare Invitations to Tender and calls for Expressions of Interest.
  • Oversee scoring of research proposals and review panels for contracting.
  • Maintain research‑focused policies and guidance frameworks.
  • Support wider research‑focused activities, including arranging and attending conferences, seminars and networking events.
  • Help plan the work of the Creative PEC team.
  • Develop and maintain research partnerships.
  • Attend events that may be held in the evening and requiring overnight stays.
  • Arrange meetings and knowledge‑sharing activities; check diaries.
  • Occasional travel between Creative PEC bases (RSA House London and Newcastle University Business School).
Person Specification – Knowledge, Skills and Experience (Essential)
  • Experience or strong interest in research design, delivery and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of the research lifecycle, policies, practice and compliance.
  • Ability to summarise complex information for reporting, including providing feedback on proposals.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem‑solving skills for complex projects with tight deadlines.
  • Highly organised with project‑management skills and the ability to apply methodologies and systems.
  • Attention to detail and record‑keeping, ensuring clear audit trails and identifying omissions.
  • Adaptable to changing circumstances, proposing new approaches.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills; able to build relationships across teams.
  • Excellent communicator, experienced in presenting slides and representing Creative PEC to senior stakeholders.
Person Specification – Knowledge, Skills and Experience (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of professional standards in one or more creative‑industry sub‑sectors.
  • Knowledge of current government creative‑industry policy priorities and practices.
