Job summary

A leading accounting and consulting firm in Cape Town is seeking a motivated and experienced Professional Accountant. The role involves providing specialist accounting and tax services to private clients, ensuring financial compliance, and managing client relationships. Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-2 years post-articles experience.
  • Strong client and interpersonal relationship management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of accounting records and annual financial statements.
  • Tax computations for companies and trusts.
  • Conducting review (ISRE) and compilation engagements (ISRS).
  • Handling SARS dispute resolution process.

Understanding of accounting for investment portfolios

The primary focus of the position will be to provide specialist accounting and tax services to private and family wealth structures of individuals, entrepreneurs and business owners, supporting their wealth creation and legacy planning. Minimum Requirements
  • Understanding of accounting for both listed and unlisted investment portfolios across various asset types.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax legislation, and other relevant acts and standards.
  • Good understanding of the taxation of trusts.
  • Proficiency in preparing IFRS for SMEs annual financial statements.
  • Experience in conducting and understanding independent review engagements (ISRE).
  • Proficiency in conducting and understanding compilation engagements for trusts (ISRS).
  • Caseware, Greatsoft, Xero proficiency.
  • Working knowledge of SARS e-filing website.
  • Working knowledge of tax software (Greatsoft would be an advantage).
  • Minimum level of education / qualifications and post-articles experience: BCom or BCom Honours; SAICA or SAIPA contract completed; PA(SA) / AGA(SA) designation; one to two years post-articles experience.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Preparation of accounting records and annual financial statements.
  • Compile Annual Financial Statements of various entity types.
  • Conducting review (ISRE) and compilation engagements (ISRS).
  • Tax computations for companies, close corporations and trusts.
  • Completing annual income tax returns for individuals (including high-net-worth individuals and entrepreneurs), companies, trusts and exempt entities.
  • Preparation and submission of dividend tax returns.
  • Objecting to incorrect tax assessments.
  • Provisional tax compliance.
  • SARS dispute resolution process.
  • Dealing with queries from clients, SARS and other departments within the company.
  • Attending to SARS verification letters.
