An exciting opportunity exists for a seasoned Procurement Manager to lead the procurement function within a dynamic and fast-paced civil construction environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sourcing, purchasing, and ensuring the timely delivery of quality materials and serviceswhile maintaining control over budget and project timelines.

This is a senior-level role overseeing procurement clerks and store operations, ensuring that every procurement decision adds value to project execution and long-term supplier relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end procurement operations, ensuring alignment with project requirements and budgets.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to forecast material and equipment needs across multiple sites.
  • Source and negotiate with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors for quality, cost-effective outcomes.
  • Draft, manage, and enforce procurement and supplier contracts in compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Oversee stores department functions and reconcile Build Smart (RIBS) stock accurately.
  • Monitor and control procurement documentation, including purchase orders, delivery receipts, and invoices.
  • Support internal audits with detailed and accurate record-keeping.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop procurement team members, including clerks and buyers.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through data analysis and strategic sourcing initiatives.
Requirements
Education & Certifications
  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • Postgraduate qualifications (MBA or Masters) are advantageous.
  • Additional certifications such as CPSM, PMP, CIPS, or Lean Six Sigma are beneficial.
Experience
  • Minimum of 35 years in a procurement management role, preferably in the civil construction or infrastructure sector.
Technical Skills
  • Solid understanding of construction materials, procurement workflows, and supplier development.
  • Experience with ERP/procurement systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Procore, Build Smart).
  • Working knowledge of relevant compliance frameworks including B-BBEE and the POPI Act.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
