Job summary

A leading water treatment company in Vereeniging is seeking a chemical dosing operator to manage the distribution and dosing of silica and ferric chemicals. The role requires experience in water purification and the ability to operate chemical dosing plants. Candidates should have at least a Grade 12 education and NQF Level 3 qualification in water treatment. A strong understanding of safety protocols and operating controls such as SCADA is essential. This role involves working within safety regulations and maintaining a clean workplace.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in plant and water purification.
• Basic understanding of the water treatment process.
• Basic mathematics and engineering principles of flow and pressure.

Responsibilities

• Assist tanker driver by receiving and offloading raw silica.
• Operate PLC controls and SCADA systems.
• Ensure safety and report any unsafe conditions to the supervisor.

Job Advert Summary

Operating, activating and distribution of silica, ferric and poly to the various dosing points. Off loading of raw silica, ferric and poly into storage tanks. Operating of chemical dosing plants in general as and when required

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12
• NQF Level 3 Water and wastewater treatment
• Computer Literacy
• Driver’s License, Code 8
• 2 years’ experience in plant and water purification

Primary Duties

• Assist tanker driver by receiving and offloading of raw silica into correct storage tank
• Activation of silica, ensure tank is clean and flushed out
• Take samples and send them to laboratory
• Operate PLC controls and SCADA
• Dosing of silica to systems specified by Supervisor
• Activation of silica by means of hydrochloric acid
• Checking of silica stock i.e. raw silica stock in storage tanks
• General plant work i.e. keeping floor area clean, cleaning all spillages, sump area, constant boxes and preventing silica build up
• Primary and secondary Ferric dosing, record ferric stock levels, supervise cleaning of ferric plant, operate SCADA, control poly dosage
• Poly dosing, assist tanker driver with refilling of poly stock tanks, ensure the correct chemical is off loaded
• Look after PPE issued
• Occupational Health and Safety, report injuries, unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, chemical spills and incidents which may result in injury or harm to employees to the WP Supervisor
