Our client, a leading group of advanced eye surgery facilities, is recruiting a Scrub Nurse with ophthalmic training to join their highly skilled team on a permanent basis at their Bellville and V&A Waterfront facilities.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist in ophthalmic surgeries, ensuring a sterile environment and correct handling of surgical instruments.
  • Provide high-quality pre-operative and post-operative care to ophthalmic patients.
  • Work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, and the wider theatre team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Perform scrubbing duties for ophthalmic procedures, and assist in other surgical disciplines when required.
  • Support and monitor patients undergoing local, regional, or general anaesthesia.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in compliance with hospital policies.
  • Adhere strictly to infection control, health, and safety standards at all times.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Matric
  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Enrolled Nurse (EN) relevant qualification.
  • Valid registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
  • 3–5 years of nursing experience, including theatre experience.
  • Previous experience in ophthalmology or related disciplines is preferred.
  • Scrubbing experience in ophthalmic surgeries is highly advantageous.
  • Experience in other surgical fields will be beneficial.
  • Anaesthetic training or relevant experience is advantageous but not essential.
