Position: Operations Executive
STELO is a projects, operations and maintenance services company focusing on the mining industry in Africa. An opportunity exists for an experienced Operations Executive that has extensive experience in Managing Mineral Process Plants and understands Operations and Maintenance in the Mining sector. The company has experienced substantial growth and now requires a seasoned professional to assist with the management of large and fully Outsourced Operations and Maintenance contracts.
The company has operations in various African countries and companies in Mauritius, South Africa, France, Guinea, Madagascar, Liberia and Angola.
The candidate will be required to travel regularly to the various operating sites, and will have the flexibility to work at any of the offices in the group (France – Calvados, South Africa – Cape, Mauritius – Port Louis) or remotely. The Operations Executive will be responsible to manage Operations and Maintenance contracts in the group.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Management of Operations and/or Maintenance contracts
- Assist with selection and appointment of team for services contracts, or support from partner companies
- Mobilisation of team members and service providers
- Development of implementation/ services plan for client, set up steercom and drive regular reviews of progress, ensure deliverables are met
- Manage Operational Readiness, Commissioning, Procurement
- Manage team members to ensure that contract deliverables are met (plant throughput, Availability, utilisation, recovery, moisture, etc)
- Visit sites regularly to meet with team and client
- Prepare budget and ensure operations stay in budget or budget is improved
- Continuously improving operations and reduce costs
- Operations and Asset Management Assessments and consulting: Carry out Operations and Asset Management Assessments for clients to identify gaps and opportunities, which will lead into proposal development
- Business Development initiatives: Identify pipeline of potential clients and contracts, Identify tenders to participate in, Support proposal development including costings, Client liaison and contract negotiations, Developing partnerships, identify partners for certain opportunities
- Stakeholder Management: Ensure ongoing communication with client
- Ensure safety, legal and company policies are adhered to.
- Implement a culture of safe operations and maintenance.
Minimum Requirements
Experience:
- More than 15 years experience in Operations and Maintenance management of process plants including base metal concentrators, including the following processes: Crushing, Milling, Leaching, Flotation, Drying, Thickening
Qualifications
- Degree in Process Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; Electrical Engineering
Additional Requirements
- Project management skills and certification will be an advantage (PMP or equivalent)
- Advanced knowledge of operations and maintenance processes, reliability engineering, planning and scheduling, continuous improvement and workforce optimisation
- Commissioning and Operational Readiness experience
- Knowledge of Enterprise Asset Management (EAM)- and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS); Operations Systems
- Knowledge of TPM and RCM concepts and principles.
- Lean and Six Sigma certifications will be beneficial
