A maritime recruitment company is seeking an Oiler to ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of the ship's machinery, engines, and equipment. The role requires previous experience in engine maintenance and knowledge of machinery lubrication. Candidates must have relevant maritime certifications and be physically fit to work in confined spaces. Responsibilities include performing daily checks, assisting in repairs, and maintaining logs. This position will help maintain the safety of the vessel and follow all maritime regulations.
The Oiler is responsible for the smooth operation and maintenance of the ships machinery, engines, and associated equipment. This role ensures that all machinery operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with maritime regulations. The Oiler assists the engineering team in routine inspections, lubrication, and cleaning of equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure the safety of the vessel.
Perform daily checks and maintenance of engines, pumps, generators, and other machinery.
Lubricate machinery and equipment as per manufacturer and ship requirements.
Monitor engine performance and report any abnormalities to senior engineering staff.
Assist in machinery repairs, troubleshooting, and overhauls.
Maintain logs of machinery operation, maintenance, and repairs.
Keep engine rooms and technical areas clean, organized, and safe.
Follow all safety protocols, maritime regulations, and company procedures.
Support the engineering team during emergencies or drills.
Previous experience in ship engine maintenance or similar mechanical work preferred.
Knowledge of engines, pumps, generators, and lubrication systems.
Physically fit and able to work in confined spaces and on rotating shifts.
Ability to follow instructions, work as a team, and maintain discipline on board.
Good communication skills and basic understanding of English.
Relevant maritime certifications as per flag state requirements (e.g., STCW).
