Overview

A vacancy exists for a Postgraduate Nurse Educator with qualifications in Perioperative Nursing Science and/or Critical Care Nursing Science, based at the Nursing College - West Rand Learning Centre, reporting to Hetty Smit, Regional Education Manager. The successful candidate will provide academic leadership by developing and managing all nursing programs and nursing education standards within the Life College of Learning.

Function Nursing Facility: Life Queenstown Private Hospital | Position: Nursing Education | Postgraduate Introduction

A vacancy exists for a Postgraduate Nurse Educator with the qualifications of Perioperative Nursing Science and/or Critical Care Nursing Science, based at the Nursing College - West Rand Learning Centre, reporting to Hetty Smit, Regional Education Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing academic leadership by developing and managing all nursing programs and nursing education standards within the Life College of Learning.

Responsibilities
  • Developing and reviewing nursing programs in line with business needs and SANC requirements, consulting with relevant stakeholders and obtaining approval of programs via Nurse Education Manager for submission to Governance structures
  • Monitoring program delivery monthly, collating and monitoring training schedules and evaluating, reviewing and updating learning material annually
  • Developing and ensuring the implementation of assessment schedules, moderating tests, assignments and examinations, analysing assessment results and implementing remedial action where necessary
  • Overseeing development and review of clinical instruments and workbooks, conducting internal moderation of formative and summative clinical assessments and submitting summative assessment results to SANC
  • Monitoring research projects and collating and publishing/presenting studies per program annually
  • Co-ordinating and conducting workshops and feedback sessions and identifying external education opportunities for Nurse Educators
  • Participating actively in College meetings and forums, obtaining feedback on Nursing programs and implementing remedial action where necessary
  • Reviewing and developing policies and processes related to program delivery and monitoring compliance on an ongoing basis
  • Conducting program audits annually and communicating non-compliance to relevant stakeholders
Requirements
  • Degree or Diploma in Postgraduate Perioperative Nursing Science and/or Critical Care Nursing Science
  • Degree in Nursing and/or Diploma in Nurse Education
  • An Assessor and Moderator Qualification
  • A relevant Master’s Degree or PhD is essential
  • Proven leadership in an education/teaching role within the healthcare environment
  • Current registration with SANC
  • Understanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges and stakeholders would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of curricula development, regulatory bodies and education principles
  • Knowledge of legislation related to healthcare and nursing as well as of current developments within nursing and nursing education
  • Understanding of change management principles
