Description
1. Purpose of the role

We are looking for a seasoned Discipline Lead to head up our Mechanical Engineering team who has a proven track record in engineering design project delivery as well as quality control.

This role combines technical expertise analytical thinking excellent problem-solving skills as well as the ability to interact with a wide range of clients as well as function in multidisciplinary teams.

2. Role Description
The focus of the role will be :
  • Design of building services using relevant software pertaining to the mechanical engineering discipline
Coordinating multidisciplinary engineering services

Preparation and review of design and construction documentation including but not limited to data analysis reviewing drawings and preparing client reports.

Construction monitoring and audits inclusive of inspections for compliance to specifications standards and designs construction payment measurements and certificates factory and site acceptance tests commissioning etc.

Implementation and management of quality assurance and quality control procedures on projects.

Managing projects to the required quality duration and cost.

Provide leadership and line management to the mechanical engineering team.

3. Candidate specification
The following specifications apply :
  • A Mechanical Engineering qualification (BTech minimum BSc / BEng preferred) Masters Degree will be advantageous
  • Professionally registered (ECSA) with 8 years experience post registration in mechanical engineering in the building services environment which includes heating ventilation and air-conditioning and wet services)
  • Experience in any of the following fields is optional but advantageous : fire protection vertical transportation refrigeration piped gas services (medical gases and liquefied petroleum gas) building management systems industrial mechanical engineering services (water and wastewater plants) and project management
  • Sound knowledge and application of local and international standards as well as relevant legislation applicable to projects with emphasis on project safety
  • The candidate must be willing to travel to project sites
  • Must have a valid drivers licence.
