Job summary

An engineering recruitment firm in South Africa is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a focus on creating efficient engineering solutions. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in machine design and a relevant engineering degree. You will be responsible for producing manufacturing documentation, managing design changes, and providing technical support to manufacturing teams. The role requires proficiency in CAD software and a willingness to travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Design practical, efficient engineering solutions with a strong focus on simplicity, accuracy, cost-effectiveness, and manufacturability
• Produce high-quality assembly and detailed manufacturing drawings in accordance with relevant industry standards
• Develop part specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), production documentation, and technical manuals
• Manage and implement Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) across existing designs
• Maintain and issue revisions to drawings, material lists, and equipment documentation
• Create layout drawings for customer manufacturing facilities and production environments
• Prepare Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
• Provide hands‑on technical support to manufacturing teams and assist technicians on site when required

Skills & Experience

• Minimum of 3 years experience in machine design and manufacturing
• At least 2 years hands‑on experience using CAD software
• Strong computer literacy, including MS Word, MS Excel, and 2D CAD tools
• Proven capability in 3D CAD for machine and equipment design
• Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team environment
• Willingness to travel locally and internationally as required
• A positive, self‑driven, and reliable work ethic
