Job summary

A leading retail group in KwaZulu-Natal is seeking a Sewing Machine Mechanic for its Maintenance department. The role involves repairing and maintaining industrial sewing machines and associated equipment, ensuring upkeep through preventative maintenance programs. Candidates should have approximately 3-4 years' experience in sewing machine maintenance within a clothing production environment. Effective communication and teamwork are essential, and preference will be given to candidates from designated groups as per the Employment Equity Act.

Qualifications

• 3-4 years’ experience in Industrial Sewing machine maintenance.
• Ability to read and write in English.
• Quick turnaround approach in a pressurized environment.

Job description

An exciting opportunity has become available in our Maintenance department for a Sewing machine Mechanic.

Responsibilities:

• Repair and maintain a range of industrial sewing machines allied sewing equipment
• Set up and test run a range of industrial sewing machines allied sewing equipment
• Keep maintenance records and update maintenance reports
• Conduct running maintenance
• Assist and coach learner mechanics
• Maintain and collect technical data for machinery and equipment
• Adhere and manage preventative maintenance program on minor and major tasks
• Folder repair
• Assist with other tasks within the maintenance department

Requirements:

• +/- 3-4 years’ experience in Industrial Sewing machine maintenance in clothing production environment
• NQF4 Qualification in repairs and maintenance sewing machine or equivalent qualification (advantageous)
• Have the ability to work in a team and additional hours as requested
• Must be able to work in a pressurized environment
• Must be able to read and write in English
• Must have a target driven and quick turnaround approach
