Minimum Requirements
- Degree/Diploma or N6 qualification in Engineering with a dual trade in Electro-Mechanical, preferable.
- Trade tested in a Technical field or Engineering principles
- At least 7 year's experience in supervision of a maintenance department, with a proven track record of discipline.
- Knowledge in instrumentation and programming, especially PLC programming and trouble-shooting
- Maintenance systems knowledge highly advantageous
Duties & Responsibilities
Maintenance Management:
- Supervise the maintenance team to achieve operational targets.
- Plan and allocate labour, materials, and overtime.
- Analyse Planned Maintenance and Breakdown reports to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Diagnose equipment issues and recommend modifications, upgrades, or replacements.
- Maintain a register of all electrical hardware and software backups.
Maintenance Planning:
- Develop and oversee the Preventive Maintenance Programme.
- Update task lists, critical spares, and spares inventories.
Maintenance Execution Scheduled:
- Review maintenance schedules, plan work, and approve store requisitions.
Breakdowns:
- Supervise breakdown repairs and elevate unresolved issues.
- Communicate major failures or potential risks to management.
Engineering Projects Initiation & Planning:
- Contribute to project scoping, budgeting, and scheduling.
- Monitor project timelines, costs, and risks.
Implementation:
- Manage technical project teams to meet objectives.
- Ensure quality compliance and support project documentation.
Administration:
- Coordinate meetings, workshops, procurement processes, and documentation management.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay informed on new maintenance technologies.
- Identify improvement opportunities and implement corrective actions.
- Analyse maintenance reports for efficiency enhancements.
People Management:
- Create an enabling work climate and supervise team performance.
- Plan labour allocation and support recruitment within the area.
- Conduct assessments, coaching, counselling, and maintain discipline.
- Resolve grievances and promote diversity targets.
Customer & Supplier Relations:
- Build and maintain relations with internal customers.
- Engage suppliers and identify improvement opportunities.
Financial Control:
- Monitor expenses vs. budget and participate in audits.
- Initiate CAPEX, disposals, and asset transfers.
- Enforce financial controls, prevent fraud, and protect company assets.
Safety, Health & Environment (SHE):
- Conduct risk assessments and planned task observations.
- Identify and address hazards and safety issues.
- Ensure legal compliance when working on equipment.
Quality Management:
- Maintain quality standards within the Maintenance function.
- Ensure compliance with ISO/TS and ISO 14001 requirements.
Policies & Procedures:
- Develop, update, and implement maintenance policies, procedures, and work instructions.
- Ensure compliance across the department.
