Job description

Machine Operator Position

We are looking for Machine Operators. We encourage anyone with a Matric Certificate to apply for this position as on-the-job training will be provided for selected candidates.

Experience Required:

The successful candidates must possess the following skills and attributes:

Minimum:

• High School NSC Certificate (Matric Certificate).

Preferred:

• Experience working on Ficep and/or Peddinghaus CNC Machinery.
• 1 year of experience independently operating computer-controlled machine operation.
• Certificate from technical school or 6 additional months of relevant experience and/or training in computerised numerically controlled (CNC) machine operations.
• 2 years of experience in computer-controlled machine operation.
• Ability to read and understand drawings.
• Attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure the safe and proper running of all machinery and equipment.
• Ensure that all planned maintenance schedules are accurately performed.
• Maintain a clean working area and environment.
• Observe machine during operation to monitor quality of finished product and/or material issues, adjusting machine as necessary.
• Generate computer programs to direct machine for proper operation and specification for job as needed.
• Set up and operate machines with proper tooling and consumables for current job needs.
• Maintain material reporting and plan best material usage to maximize finished products with the least amount of raw material and consumables used.
• Use lifting devices and mobile equipment to place materials/parts where needed.
• Use appropriate measuring tools, processes, and systems to perform First Piece Inspection and other quality checks before, during, and after production to confirm material and/or product meets specifications.
• Actively participate in continuous improvement and corrective action activities.
• Accurately report on cutting list items and offcuts.
