Job description

This position involves assisting in the inspection and testing of materials and products to ensure adherence to established standards of strength, quality, and efficacy.

Responsibilities

• Assist in inspection and testing of materials and products to ensure adherence to established standards of strength, quality, and efficacy.
• Assist in operating test equipment.
• Assist QC Technician in the day‑to‑day running of the Quality Control Department.
• Inspect, sample, and test all incoming goods (bulk, finished, packaging).
• Test all incoming product (bulk, packed, components) except where facilities are not available and product must be sent to an outside agency.
• Assist in the submission of samples to third‑party labs for testing.
• Report on product defects/non‑conformances.
• Assist with in‑house audits.
• Ensure status labelling of all products and materials.
• Complete release/testing documentation for Bulk Warehouse for re‑packing or for Finished Product Warehouse for distribution.
• Liaise with Finish Product Warehouse for re‑work (where applicable).
• Check bulk products prior to testing.
• Ensure batch documentation is collated and correctly filed.
• Ensure maintenance and servicing of laboratory equipment/facilities.
• Routinely check released product for compliance to GWP in the warehouse.
• Comply with the requirements of the company’s international and various regulatory authorities concerning Quality Control Methods, Standard Operating Procedures, and Works Instructions.
• Ensure periodic review and documented quality control inspections of the finished/bulk goods warehouse and laboratory.
• Effectively communicate and document all major quality problems to the QC Technician to ensure closure on resolution.
• Support and make recommendations to improve company policies and procedures.
• Ensure cleanliness of all controlled areas (reject cage, sampling booth, retention store).
• Ensure that acceptable safety practices are followed in the laboratory.
• Comply with company/warehouse and laboratory safety requirements.
• Comply with statutory and legal requirements in terms of storage and disposal of materials and products.
• Ensure that correct type/number retention samples are kept.

Requirements

• Minimum Grade 12 qualification.

• Fork lift licence an advantage.
