Job summary

A leading metal recycling company in Secunda is seeking an experienced Supervisor to lead operational processes and a team. You will ensure compliance with company policies, maintain customer satisfaction, and manage staff effectively. The ideal candidate has a minimum Grade 12, at least 5 years of supervisory experience in a production environment, and strong communication skills. This role also requires knowledge of H&S regulations and experience in scrap metal being advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring all operational processes and procedures are strictly followed
• Identify the exact quality and specification of the commodity purchased
• Maintain good customer relations and ensure customer satisfaction
• Identify and report fraudulent transactions
• Reject nonmetallic items and inferior quality metals
• Ensure records are updated and reconciled accurately for all items purchased and dispatched
• Ensure Company policies and procedures & Health & Safety regulations are adhered to
• Lead and supervise a team in order to achieve operational and goal orientated requirements
• Ensure that assistants thoroughly inspect scrap to be purchased and display all metals openly for photographing
• Ensure that the requirements of the Second-hand Goods Act are complied with when buying scrap by accurately recording all information required under the Act
• Disciplinary action and daily management of staff.
• Plant and equipment are maintained as per the maintenance schedule.
• Ensures that tasks are delegated to the different staff members within the department.
• Ensure that employees are properly trained and licensed for the machinery/equipment that they operate.
• Ensure that all production staff members wear the correct and required PPE at all times.

Qualifying Experience

• Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent.
• 5 years’ experience in a Supervisory position.
• A minimum of at least 5 years’ experience in a production industry.
• Computer literate - full Microsoft suite.
• Must be conversant with the Second-hand Goods Act.
• Good knowledge of H&S regulations.
• Scrap metal experience will be an advantage.
