Purpose of the Position
The Faculty of Engineering at North-West University (engineering.nwu.ac.za) is a vibrant, industry-engaged academic environment focused on developing engineers who are equipped to lead in a rapidly changing world. The Faculty offers seven professional undergraduate programmes, Diploma and research-based variants of these programmes are also offered at postgraduate level, alongside specialised offerings in Nuclear Engineering, Sustainability and Sustainable Mining.

Temporary, part-time (2 years) lecturing positions in the NWU Faculty of Engineering.

The NWU Faculty of Engineering is inviting applications from experienced practicing or retired professionals for part-time, online remote teaching positions in our Postgraduate Diploma Programmes (PGDip) (https://engineering.nwu.ac.za/engineering/postgraduate).

  • PGDip (Industrial Engineering), also with specializations in Sustainability and Sustainable Mining.
  • PGDip (Nuclear Science and Technology), also with specialization in Nuclear Technology Management.

We are seeking recent B.Eng graduates for part-time junior lecturer positions in our B.Eng programmes (https://engineering.nwu.ac.za/engineering/undergraduate)

We’re also seeking part-time contract lecturers to present in our online Postgraduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering and Sustainability programme.

Key Responsibilities

Minimum Requirements

  • A minimum of one (1) year of evidence of independent research or industry experience.

Position specific requirements

Junior Lecturer
  • A B. Eng degree or equivalent in relevant discipline (NQF level 8).
Lecturer
  • An M. Eng degree in a relevant discipline (NQF level 9).
  • A minimum of two (2) years of teaching experience.
Added Advantage & Preference
  • A minimum of one (1) year of teaching experience - Junior Lecturer.

  • Knowledge of assessment theory and practice to enhance student performance.
  • Research methodology and technical writing.
