DEPARTMENT / DOMAIN: BMR ENGINEERING - GENERAL

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To provide technical, engineering and management support to the plant engineer to ensure that plant objectives are met.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years' experience.
  • Theoretical knowledge required for this position.
  • In depth understanding of engineering disciplines.
  • Basic knowledge of operations / plant processes
  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be customer oriented with good problem solving- and time management skills.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare, write, and pass the approved examination to obtain a Government Certificate of Competency (Factories) within the set timeframe.
  • Conduct safety accident and incident investigations and implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Complete contractors risk identification checklists and carry out legal compliance audits.
  • Assist engineers with baseline risk assessments.
  • Execute plant optimisation and improvement projects and submit the required reports.
  • Pursue individual development by submitting monthly reports, attending technical or legal compliance courses, and delivering presentations at quarterly graduation gatherings.
  • Successfully complete the Junior Engineer Programme.
  • Act as Plant Engineer or Foreman when required.
