Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Digital Forensic Analyst to assist with the investigation of cyber incidents and the analysis of digital evidence. Under the guidance of senior analysts, the successful candidate will support the collection, preservation, processing, and preliminary examination of data sourced from computers, mobile devices, and networks. This role includes contributing to incident response activities, developing and managing data pipelines and forensic databases, and ensuring strict evidence integrity throughout the investigative process.
Responsibilities
Digital Forensics & Incident Response
- Assist in the collection, preservation, and handling of digital evidence following industry standards and chain-of-custody requirements
- Conduct preliminary forensic analysis on computers, mobile devices, storage media, and network data
- Apply industry-standard forensic tools and methodologies during investigations
- Prepare clear, structured, and detailed reports documenting findings
- Support senior analysts during cyber incident response activities
Data Pipelines & Evidence Management
- Design and develop data pipelines to collect, process, and store digital evidence from multiple sources
- Ensure the integrity and authenticity of forensic data throughout ingestion and processing
- Administer and maintain databases containing digital evidence, following strict security protocols, audit trails, and chain-of-custody practices
- Identify and resolve bottlenecks impacting evidence processing, query efficiency, or investigation timelines
Security, Infrastructure & Support
- Implement strong security measures, such as encryption, access controls, and authentication, to protect sensitive forensic data
- Establish and manage backup and recovery strategies to maintain data integrity and support ongoing investigations
- Provide desktop support for clients using in-house forensic applications and solutions
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of processes, procedures, and investigative findings
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Work collaboratively with forensic analysts, legal teams, and law enforcement to meet investigation requirements and provide timely access to evidence
- Stay current on emerging cyber threats, forensic techniques, and investigative tools to enhance overall cyber forensic capabilities
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Digital Forensics, or related field
- Academic project work, lab experience, or internships in cybersecurity or digital forensics (preferred)
- Exposure to forensic tools such as FTK, EnCase, Autopsy, Cellebrite, or equivalent (advantageous but not required)
- Familiarity with databases, scripting, or basic programming is an advantage
- Basic knowledge of digital forensic principles, tools, and methodologies
- Understanding of evidence handling protocols and chain-of-custody requirements
- Ability to document findings clearly and concisely in formal reports
- Familiarity with operating systems such as Windows and Linux
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and teamwork abilities
- High attention to detail, integrity, and a strong learning mindset
- Foundational knowledge of cybersecurity or IT concepts
