Our client is within the Office Automation industry and based in Boksburg. They are looking for a Junior Copier Technician to join their Service Department as soon as possible.

JOB DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE

The Copier Technician contributes to the success of the Service and Technical Department by providing customer service and technical support by maintaining, servicing and repairing office equipment at customer locations within the assigned territory.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • A copier technician's first job is to analyze what is causing the malfunction based on the customers description of the problem.
  • He may perform diagnostic tests and run a number of test copies to isolate the glitch.
  • If replacement parts are needed, he has to research the cost and availability and get customer approval before ordering parts.
  • A copier technician is expected to keep his tools in good working order. He is required to complete work orders and parts requisitions as well as daily logs of his work.
  • Keeping customers happy by servicing their machines in a proper and timely manner.
  • Delivering and installing toner
  • Proper upkeep of job card and delivery notes and all paperwork necessary for service department to run according to company rules.
  • Building of copier machines to clients specifications
  • Installing of copiers and printers in typical office environments
  • Liaising back to office on any issues above and beyond technician abilities to sort out at the client.
  • Making sure workshop environment is clean and ready for use
  • Correct planning of daily jobs to be completed
  • Going for sufficient training on new copier machine models
  • Do preventive maintenance of machines
  • Perform any other function required by managing staff
  • Project and protect a positive company image
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Grade 12 with technical or computer related subjects such as RTT or IT
  • CompTIA A+ and N+ certification
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
  • 1 – 3 Years experience in a similar field will be advantageous
  • General computer skills
  • The ability to read and interpret parts lists and service manuals are required for this job. Skill in troubleshooting failures in a copiers hardware, software and components is necessary.
  • A Copier Technician has to be competent in using hand tools like screwdrivers, pliers and multimeters and have skills in testing different functions of the copier like reducing and enlarging images and collating multi-page projects.
  • A Copier Technician needs to know how to properly clean dirt and debris from internal parts.
  • Customer service skills are required to interact with clients on the phone and in person and give work estimates.
  • Also necessary is knowledge of preventative maintenance scheduling and warranty administration and extensions.
  • Need to be able to lift heavy equipment if needed
  • General PC knowledge and networking skills
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to support by phone and in person hardware and software.
  • Must be a team player and someone who is confident
  • Must ensure accurate work at all times
  • Must also have the ability to operate under pressure and have an assertive nature
  • Must be willing and able to work after hours or during weekends when required to do so
  • A Copier Technician should be detailed-oriented with basic mechanical repair skills, have the ability to install, disassemble and reassemble copiers and be able to replace and refurbish parts.
  • A Copier Technician should be computer proficient with an understanding of network connections and commonly used software programs.
  • A Copier Technician also needs strong communications and customer service skills.
  • Copier Technicians must have a current drivers license and the ability to lift heavy equipment.
