The purpose of this position is to provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to gain exposure to a leading Corporate Finance franchise as part of a leading international bank – the experience will encompass both advisory and capital markets work (debt and equity).

This role is part of a leading Corporate Finance franchise within an international bank, working on a variety of complex projects for local and global clients across Africa.

Your key responsibilities
- Front‑office, client‑centric role handling complex projects for leading South African, African, and global clients
- Contribute to new ideas that help clients achieve strategic and financial objectives
- Apply analytical skills to solve problems in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
- Project management and involvement in executing live transactions and pitches
- Attend team discussions, client meetings, and deliver parts of presentations
- Tasks vary by project: evaluating companies, financial analysis, developing M&A and capital market models, preparing industry analyses, conducting research, and providing support in live deal execution
- Learn from experienced colleagues locally and offshore, building a firm foundation for future specialization
- Interact with sector and product teams across the bank, both onshore and offshore
- Support senior bankers in origination and coverage efforts
- Produce accurate calculations and analysis, draft documentation, discussion materials, and pitchbooks
- Maintain compliance and FAIS license requirements
- Assist with administrative tasks and contribute positively to franchise building activities
- Engage in regional networking and Talent Development offerings
Your skills and experience
- Minimum 12‑24 months prior experience in corporate finance
- Strong track record of seeking out M&A, advisory, or capital markets experience (university societies, internships, etc.) viewed positively
- Strong technical skills: financial modelling, financial analysis, and valuation methodology understanding
- Excellent analytical, communication, and English language skills
- Proficiency with financial analytics software and Microsoft suite
- Commercial instinct, passion for finance and capital markets, and affinity for numbers
- Results‑driven, perform well under pressure, tight deadlines, and a bright mind with an excellent academic record
- Team player capable of managing a wide range of responsibilities and contributing to franchise success
- Committed to excellence, maintaining high professional and ethical standards
- Post‑graduate degree or minimum Honours level (preferred)
- Academic focus on business or natural sciences (finance, accounting, investment management, business administration, economics, mathematics, engineering)
