Instrumentation Technician required for a renowned packaging company based in East London

Qualifications:

  • Trade Tested Electrician with an Instrumentation specialization (Red Seal preferred).
  • N6 in Electrical Engineering preferable

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ post-trade experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Solid knowledge of PLC programming and fault finding (preferably Siemens, Allen Bradley, ABB
  • Delta, Mitsubishi, Schneider, B&R, Bosch Rexroth)
  • Proficient in electrical fault-finding, panel wiring, and motor control systems
  • Familiarity with Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) and SCADA systems is advantageous
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and wiring diagrams
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards in an industrial setting
  • Ability to work shifts, overtime, and standby as operationally required
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work in a team

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform electrical and instrumentation maintenance on production machinery.
  • Install, repair, and calibrate sensors, PLCs, drives, and automated systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve breakdowns with minimal downtime.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance to ensure plant efficiency.
  • Assist with control system upgrades and continuous improvement projects.
  • Ensure compliance with the OHS ACT, company safety protocols and electrical standards
