Hiring : Import Buyer – Randburg, Gauteng

A well-established leader in technical equipment is looking for a motivated Import Buyer to join their dynamic team in Randburg.

Start Date

Mid-January 2026

Hours

Mon–Fri 08 : 00–17 : 00 (Some Saturdays required)

Salary

Market-related and commensurate with experience

The Role

You’ll be responsible for international procurement (mainly China), stock planning, supplier negotiations, landed costing, and supporting logistics. You’ll work with a wide range of technical products including machines, parts, consumables, electronics, and hazardous materials.

This is a junior buying role reporting to the Imports Manager, and forms part of a collaborative procurement team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Source, negotiate, and manage suppliers (local + international).
  • Plan, forecast, and maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Support imports : shipments, documentation, landed costing & compliance.
  • Liaise daily with suppliers and work closely with the warehouse team.
  • Assist with GRVs, discrepancies, and resolving defective / incorrect shipments.
  • Maintain accurate records and work within an in-house ERP system.
Requirements
  • Previous procurement / buying experience (imports an advantage).
  • Relevant certification, i.e. Freight & Logistics Diploma / Certificate highly advantageous
  • Strong negotiation, admin, and numerical ability.
  • Technical aptitude (understanding parts, components, specs).
  • Knowledge of HS codes, MSDS, DGM, NRCS, LOA, SAPS — or willingness to learn.
  • Strong Excel skills & experience with ERP / inventory systems (training provided).
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Must reside in or near Randburg.
  • Clear criminal & credit record; drug-free.
  • Matric Maths requirement: Maths Literacy ≥ 60% OR Maths ≥ 40%.
