Job summary

An Investment Company based in Johannesburg is seeking an Impact Investments Analyst. You will assist in evaluating investment opportunities, performing due diligence, and contributing to the quarterly reviews of the impact portfolio. A CA, BCom/BSc Honours, or progress in CFA is required along with strong analytical and communication skills for this full-time role.

Job description

Overview

An Investment Company established to create a sustainable asset base for the benefit of mine, energy, and construction workers and their dependents is looking for an Impact Investments Analyst to join their team in Johannesburg.

Responsibilities

  1. Assist the Chief Investment Officer and/or the Impact Investments Manager on specific projects and provide technical support.
  2. Identify, research, and evaluate investment opportunities aligned with the Company’s impact investment objectives.
  3. Assist in structuring new transactions, raising funding, negotiating, and reaching legal and commercial agreements with target companies, and implementing transactions.
  4. Perform due diligence on target companies.
  5. Research industries relevant to the group’s impact investee companies and strategic investment areas.
  6. Contribute to quarterly reviews of the impact investment portfolio and prepare investment reports.
  7. Assist with bi-annual valuations of impact investments for management accounts.
  8. Report to and take instructions from the Group’s Executives as needed.

Requirements

  • CA (SA), BCom/BSc Honours degree, CFA Charterholder, or CFA in progress.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in private equity, corporate finance, leveraged finance, asset management, impact investments, or management consulting.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Operational capability in FactSet, Thomson Reuters (Refinitiv), or Bloomberg Terminal.
  • Experience with valuations or due diligence processes.
  • Adaptable and self-motivated.
