Summary

We are seeking a dynamic Human Resources Officer to drive employee engagement and enhance HR processes within our organization. The ideal candidate must have strong leadership skills, possess initiative and must be self‑motivated.

Position Info

The HR Officer is responsible for assisting the HR Manager in driving best in class people standards and practices on a day-to-day basis. The role works hand in hand with the HR team as the first point of contact for all HR day‑to‑day related matters. Based at the Denver office, the HR Officer will drive HR payroll administration support, HR audit compliance, disciplinary matters for onsite employees and ensure sound governance for all HR processes. The HR officer will also support the execution of key HR initiatives that will improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the HR department.

Duties and Responsibilities
Payroll and HR Administration
  • Review and verify monthly payroll inputs for staff alongside contract managers.
  • Track and report on payroll queries and key payroll metrics.
  • Audit and report on leave administration procedures monthly.
  • Ensure HR compliance for new hires and terminated employees.
  • Maintain 100% complete and audit‑ready payroll records by driving accurate and complete documentation of attendance register working hours, including overtime hours, allowance of night shifts, and all other particulars.
Employee and Industrial Relations
  • Provide ER/IR advice to line managers and employees.
  • Drive end-to-end disciplinary compliance including drafting of charges, investigations, schedule and attend hearings and ensure 100% compliance with documentation filing.
  • Facilitate grievances and support managers with due processes.
  • Ensure procedural and substantial fairness aligned to LRA requirements and track and report on compliance.
  • Support the preparation of bundle preparations and drive high quality standards.
  • Escalate complex or high‑risk ER/IR matters to the HR Manager.
HRIS and Data Management
  • Ensure and maintain accurate HRIS and employee master data.
  • Ensure personnel files are complete, up to date, and audit compliant.
  • Ensure employment confirmations in line with POPIA.
  • Ensure excellence in weekly HR reporting to HR Manager.
  • Drive IOD submissions and always ensure company compliance.
Recruitment and Onboarding
  • Coordinate recruitment activities in line with SOP for blue collar tier.
  • Support hiring managers with interviews.
  • Ensure complete and accurate recruitment and selection administration.
  • Drive EE compliance and coordinate onboarding and induction processes.
  • Maintain high standards of recruitment selection criteria.
Stakeholder and Operational Support
  • Provide day to day HR support to line management across sites.
  • Build professional working relationships with internal clients.
  • Support the HR manager with operational HR excellence.
  • Act as the first point of contact for HR Gauteng operations.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Grade 12 and HR / Industrial Psychology tertiary related qualification.
  • 5‑year experience in an HR role.
  • Solid knowledge of legislation regarding the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Labour Relations Act, Employment Equity Act, Skills Development Act, as well as any other applicable legislation.
  • Experience with mentoring a team of junior employees.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency and other digital tools.
  • Solid experience with HR audit and reporting.
  • Working experience with HRIS and related.
  • Valid code 8 driver’s licence and must have own vehicle.
  • Experience working in multi‑site or operational environment.
