Head of Logistics

Job Purpose: The Head of Logistics is responsible for establishing and leading the logistics function within the organization. This includes setting up efficient systems and processes for inventory management, warehouse operations, product deliveries, and cross-border shipments. The role requires a strategic and hands-on leader to build and optimize the company’s logistics department, ensure compliance with local and international regulations, and support operational growth. The incumbent will manage a team of 3 employees (2 drivers and 1 storeman) as well as oversee 4 storerooms located across various sites.
Responsibilities
Logistics & Supply Chain Management
- Develop, implement, and manage logistics strategies, systems, and policies to optimize operations.
- Oversee local deliveries, regional distribution, and cross-border product shipments.
- Ensure compliance with customs, transport, and cross-border regulations.
- Monitor KPIs (on-time delivery, cost efficiency, accuracy) and drive continuous improvement.
Warehouse & Inventory Management
- Set up and manage warehouse operations across 4 storerooms in different locations.
- Implement best practices for inventory control, stock rotation, and accurate record-keeping.
- Ensure all storage areas are organized, safe, and compliant with company standards.
- Introduce systems for stock tracking, audits, and reporting.
Team Leadership
- Manage and mentor a small team (2 drivers and 1 storeman), fostering accountability and high performance.
- Develop job roles, training plans, and performance evaluations for logistics staff.
- Coordinate driver schedules, delivery routes, and warehouse support activities.
Process Development & Compliance
- Establish standardized logistics procedures, including documentation, shipment tracking, and delivery confirmations.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards in warehouses and during transportation.
- Liaise with internal teams and external partners (suppliers, transporters, customs agents).
Financial & Strategic Management
- Develop and monitor the logistics budget, controlling costs and improving efficiency.
- Evaluate and recommend logistics systems/software to streamline operations.
- Provide input into company growth strategies by aligning logistics capabilities with business needs.
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma/Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (essential).
- Professional certification in logistics or supply chain (advantageous).
- 5–8 years’ experience in logistics, distribution, or warehouse management.
- Proven track record of managing cross-border shipments and customs processes.
- Experience in setting up logistics/warehouse systems and procedures.
- Strong leadership experience managing small to mid-sized teams.
