A leading renewable energy company is seeking an experienced and driven Head of Engineering to join their team in Gauteng. This senior leadership role is ideal for someone with a strong track record in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), hybrid energy solutions, and microgrid projects, who is also capable of leading and developing a high-performing engineering team.

The Head of Engineering will oversee the full engineering function, guiding technical strategy and ensuring excellence across all projects. The role involves shaping solutions for large C&I and off‑grid applications, integrating Solar PV, BESS, and Genset systems into reliable, future‑ready energy systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Oversee the design, engineering, and delivery of Solar PV, BESS, hybrid, and microgrid projects.
• Drive innovation and technical strategy across the engineering function.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and industry regulations.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth project execution.
• Provide technical expertise and leadership in client and stakeholder engagements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field).
• Demonstrated expertise in BESS projects and hybrid energy solutions.
• 8+ years’ experience in the renewable energy or power sector, including at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
• Strong understanding of Solar PV, BESS, Genset integration, and microgrid design.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects in a fast‑paced environment.
